Over the last 18 months we have noticed the increase in staff turnover amongst our sectors' leaders. There are a variety of reasons behind this, which we are keen to uncover. However, for those still in post we recognise the ongoing challenges and difficulties, and indeed loneliness of running an organisation.
To support you with this, we are scoping out the appetite for CEOs and senior leaders in VCSE groups & organisations in Gloucestershire to participate in a series of Action Learning Sets. You can find out more and express your interest below:
What are Action Learning Sets?
Action Learning is a process which involves working on real challenges, using the knowledge and the skills of a small group of people combined with skilled questioning, to produce fresh ideas and help with action. An Action Learning Set is a group of between 5 to 7 people. They are usually peers or at a similar level of responsibility and experience and agree to meet regularly over a fixed period of time. Sessions are approximately 2 hours each and can be held virtually or in person and are supported by a trained facilitator who will support the process. Members will take turn to present a topic they are grappling with and are encouraged to find their own solutions through a process of insightful questioning combined with a balance of support and challenge from the group.
What commitment is required?
We're proposing to run 5 sessions of 2 hours over a period of 8 months. You will need to:
- Make a commitment to attend all of the sessions;
- Actively contribute to the sessions; and
- Build relationships with the people on the Set.
Please note that dates will be set in advance and are normally fixed. Each set will include 5-7 participants and they will likely start mid-May 2025. Our Sets will be facilitated by Anne Brinkhoff.
How do I know Action Learning is for me?
Are you asking yourself any of the below questions:
- How do I re-build my relationship with the Chair of our Board?
- How do I make an impact in my first 100 days?
- I am stuck, not enjoying my role - what's next?
- How can I build my external profile when I hate networking?
- How do I maximise the benefits of Artificial Intelligence for my organisation?
- How do I confront inappropriate behaviour of one of my direct reports?
- How do I make sense of Devolution and Local Government Reforms?
- How do I influence an important partnership?
If you are asking any of these questions (or similar ones) and would like to express an interest in our Action Learning Sets, please complete our online form and we will get back to you about our proposed next steps: Action Learning Sets Expression of Interest (EOI) 2025.
The EOI deadline is 5pm on 11/04/25.
